Israel Says Troops Raid Hamas Military Zone in Gaza City

Israel's military said its ground forces have raided a central Hamas military zone in the heart of Gaza City, near the Al-Shifa hospital complex. The military said troops from the infantry and armored brigades, with cover from the air force, fought battles with Hamas over the past few days in what it called the "military quarter" of the group, killing 50 Hamas militants. The Israeli military described the area as the "heart of intelligence and operational activities," and said that it contained a police station, an office of the interior ministry, a war room for directing fighting, a large training ground and munitions factories used to make rockets, anti-tank missiles, drones and other explosives.
