The Sympathizer, based on Viet Thanh Nguyen's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, is an espionage thriller and cross-culture satire revolving around a half-French, half-Vietnamese communist spy during the Vietnam War's final days and his subsequent exile in the US. Co-showrunners Park Chan-wook and Don McKellar also serve as executive producers. The cast includes Hoa Xuande, Fred Nguyen Khan, Toan Le, Ky Duyen, Sandra Oh, and Robert Downey Jr., who not only stars but also executive produces and plays multiple roles.
