Though it boasts grand sponsorship, extensive TV coverage, and over 100,000 fans per match, this tournament is unique: all players are women. Despite the roaring atmosphere and players treated as celebrities, the unofficial Women’s World Cup is dismissed by FIFA and global football associations, virtually erased from history.
