Four of the world’s most-influential central banks are poised to announce monetary-policy decisions this week. The Federal Reserve is first up—at 2 p.m. ET today—and is expected to hold interest rates steady in the 5.25%-to-5.5% range. The bigger question is over the Fed’s forecasts for the rest of 2023 and further ahead—in particular, when and how fast the central bank might start cutting rates.
