Families of the more than 200 people held hostage by militants in Gaza demanded a meeting on Saturday with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu citing concerns that the escalation of Israel’s bombing campaign could endanger the captives. "We expect the Prime Minister and Defense Minister to meet with us today, look us in the eye, and give a clear answer to the question: Does the escalation of military activity in Gaza endanger the well-being of the 229 hostages?” said a group representing the families. The families have been pressuring the Israeli government to strike a deal with Hamas that could free some of the hostages before an anticipated ground assault on Gaza.
