Alberta to require parent consent or notification before students can use new pronouns, names at school

    Premier Danielle Smith says Alberta parents will need to give permission before a student under the age of 15 can use a name or pronoun at school other than what they were given at birth. Smith, in a video posted to social media Wednesday afternoon, added that students who are 16 or 17 won't require permission but schools will need to let their parents know first.
