Americans Remain Highly Sympathetic Toward Israelis, Polls Show

The vast majority of Americans remain sympathetic to Israel according to recent polling. About two-thirds of Americans say the U.S. should publicly support Israel in its war with Hamas, according to the [latest NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist poll](https://ift.tt/mLwTB9X), even though about 80% of respondents worried that the war will lead to a larger regional conflict in the Middle East. A separate poll released by CNN found 71% of respondents say they feel deep sympathy for the Israeli people over the Oct. 7 attacks by Hamas, with nearly all expressing at least some sympathy for them.
