After delivering his Oval Office address Thursday, President Biden and the first lady, Jill Biden, called the family of Wadea Alfayoumi, the 6-year-old boy who was fatally stabbed in what authorities say was a hate crime motivated by the child’s Muslim faith and the Israel-Hamas conflict. The Bidens spoke to the boy's father and his uncle, the White House said. Joseph Czuba, 71 years old, was being held on several counts, including a hate crime, in the stabbing death over the weekend of the boy who lived at a property where Czuba was a landlord in Plainfield Township, southwest of Chicago.
