Bank earnings were overall positive for larger banks JPMorgan (JPC), Citigroup (C), and Wells Fargo (WFC), all topping third-quarter estimates. Bank executives, however, remain wary as the Federal Reserve may implement new capital requirements for banks, leaving potential investors hesitant. Whalen Global Advisors LLC Chairman R.C. Whalen joins Yahoo Finance to discuss the capital requirements and what investors need to pay attention to. Whalen explains why the Federal Reserve is under pressure to make these changes: " The regulators have reacted to what occurred in the first quarter [of 2023], when we had several banks fail, so they're catching up. They are under attack by not just the banks but by everyone in the housing industry because a lot of the changes are going to make are going to make mortgages more expensive for consumers."
