Consumer Confidence Drops Again in September

    Consumer confidence fell for the second month in a row in September, as Americans continue to fret about higher grocery and gasoline prices. The Conference Board’s confidence index clocked in at 103 in September, below economists’ consensus for a reading of 105, and August’s upwardly revised 108.7 reading. “Write-in responses showed that consumers continued to be preoccupied with rising prices in general, and for groceries and gasoline in particular,” said Dana Peterson, chief economist at the Conference Board.
