Rep. Pete Aguilar (D., Calif.) the No. 3 Democrat nominated Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D., N.Y.) for the speakership. Jeffries is unlikely to get the job because there are not enough Democrats for him to claim a majority without GOP support but Democrats continue to put him up for the job. Aguilar focused in his speech on the fact that Jeffries had more support than Rep. Jim Jordan (R., Ohio) in the first round of voting.
