Fog at Chicago’s Midway Airport Blip in Otherwise Smooth Christmas Travel Weekend

    An overall smooth weekend of holiday travel ran into a hiccup as dense fog made it harder for flights to reach Chicago’s Midway International Airport before Christmas Eve. Southwest Airlines accounts for over 90% of Midway’s passengers and was the hardest hit as the Federal Aviation Administration stopped or slowed Midway-bound flights Saturday night and throughout much of Sunday. “We have all hands on deck as our employees are working quickly to take care of our customers and accommodate them on alternative flights,” a Southwest spokesman said.
