Two friends won their local Halloween costume contest after dressing up as Taylor Swift and boyfriend Travis Kelce. Steve O'Brien, 58, and Bucky Kosek, 38, decided to dress up as the famed couple after Steve's wife, Tanika O'Brien, suggested the idea. Tanika came up with idea in late September after hearing that Bucky, a data analyst, was often compared to the NFL player. Steve's costume included a full face of makeup, a blond wig and he even wore an American football jacket with the number with Travis Kelce's number – 87. Bucky wore a Travis Kelce jersey and a pair of sunglasses. A video shows the two friends walking hand in hand, even mimicking the famous couple's body language. The pair wowed the crowd at the Santa Rosa Golf Club and Beach Club, which hosted the contest, and won a free dinner. At first, Steve, a homebuilder from Santa Rosa, California, USA, wasn't keen on dressing up as the pop star. But his wife Tanika, a real estate agent, spent weeks convincing him and he caved in only a week before the contest, which was held on October 25. Tanika said: "I've been pitching it to him for the last 30 days. I have no idea what changed. I just said to him 'Do you want to win?'" Steve continued: "Originally I said no as I thought it would be a lot of effort to pull it off. "I changed my mind when I realized we would win hands down if we did pull it off and a few beers were involved." Steve was unsure about the costume but got into character straight away when he saw how well it worked and even insisted on makeup. He said: "In the end we really only did it to win. People have been consumed with it. The entire club is talking about it. "Everyone just said great job. That was amazing." Tanika also said she was impressed with her husband's acting: "The way he walked. His body language. I think he really did his research. "He insisted I do his makeup. I just basically did my usual look on him and it worked great." As soon as the crowd saw the pair – especially Steve – they went wild and the other contestants accepted their loss. Tanika added: "Everyone burst out laughing when they saw them. People didn't even recognise Steve. "As soon as they walked in, the other contestants told us we'd won. They said well done you won Halloween." Tanika was responsible for every part of Steve's costume using her own clothes while Bucky handled his part. She said: "I looked at what she had been wearing. I was going to bedazzle some jeans. "He put them on and said he was an ugly girl so I picked up something else for him."
