Heavy Rain Leads to Flooded Streets in Central Chile

    Streets flooded in the town of Talca, in Chile’s central Maule Region, on August 21, as a storm front caused the Clear River (Rio Claro) to overflow.Video released by the Carabineros, Chile’s national police, on Monday shows inundated streets outside of Talca’s Estadio Fiscal.Further south in Maule, the Three Arches Bridge (Puente Tres Arcos) in Llepo partially collapsed and surrounding areas were flooded due to high waters in the Ancoa River on Monday.According to local news reports three regions in Chile’s central zone were under a red alert for extreme weather, including flooding, and 19,000 people had been evacuated.
