Hurricane Idalia Moves North Through Gulf of Mexico

    Hurricane Idalia was expected to bring “life-threatening storm surge and hurricane conditions” to parts of Florida’s Gulf Coast on Tuesday evening, August 29, and Wednesday, August 30, the National Hurricane Center (NHC) said.The storm’s outer bands arrived in Florida’s southwest on Tuesday, bringing coastal flooding, rough surf, and strong winds.Florida Gov Ron DeSantis expanded a state of emergency on Monday morning to include a total of 46 counties. At least 15 counties in the state had issued mandatory evacuation orders.This footage by the Cooperative Institute for Research in the Atmosphere (CIRA) shows the storm moving near Florida on Tuesday.
