The top economist at the International Monetary Fund said it is too soon to tell whether the war between Israel and Hamas will have broad economic consequences. Pierre-Olivier Gourinchas said the conflict risks creating an energy-supply shock, which could raise oil prices, feed inflation and reduce growth. IMF research shows a 10% increase in oil prices reduces global economic growth by 0.15 percentage point.
