It is not uncommon for wide players to need a season or so to find their feet under Pep Guardiola. That was certainly the case with Riyad Mahrez, Bernardo Silva and Jack Grealish but Jeremy Doku has hit the ground running for Manchester City and, while there is much still to do and prove, the champions’ success in the first half, which ultimately provided the foundation for this precious win, owed much to the Belgium winger’s relentless running at Brighton’s defence.
