Modesto Officer Misses Graduation

The Modesto Police Department brought its swearing-in ceremony for a recruit to his wife’s hospital room Tuesday after the birth of their second child led to his missing graduation. “I had to put my family first,” Officer Trent Kersey said. The department celebrated its new hires at a ceremony Tuesday afternoon as Kersey and his wife welcomed their second child. Kersey said he was surprised when his sergeant called and asked him to stop by and see them.
