No U.S. Troops in Ukraine, but Some in Israel

President Biden emphasized in his White House address that he doesn't want U.S. troops on the ground in Ukraine fighting Russia. The U.S. has close defense ties with Israel, and the U.S. military has consulted extensively with the Israel Defense Forces since the Oct. 7 attacks. U.S. military personnel have arrived to bolster the U.S. Embassy staff, but the Pentagon has said none will have any combat role.
