Petrobras CEO asks for meeting with Lula, wants support to stay in role – report

    The chief executive of Brazil's state-run oil company Petrobras has asked for a meeting with President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva as he seeks support to stay in the role, newspaper Folha de Sao Paulo reported late on Wednesday. CEO Jean Paul Prates has faced criticism from some members of Lula's cabinet, notably Mines and Energy Minister Alexandre Silveira, and wants a "definitive meeting" with Lula about the situation, the newspaper reported. Leaving Petrobras is among the outcomes mulled by Prates if he fails to get a strong show of support from Lula, according to the report, which did not explain how it obtained the information.
