Port union president on bridge collapse: ‘It’s catastrophic’

    The Port of Baltimore is a critical hub for handling cargo in and out of the U.S. With the port closed after the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapsed, the supply chain is in limbo. "The Port of Baltimore is one of the biggest economic engines for the state. The impact alone is $191 million a day when that shipping channel is closed," International Longshoremen's Association Local 333 president Scott Cowan said. As many as 15,000 jobs depend directly on the Port of Baltimore, with more than 100,000 other jobs linked to it. Cowan represents a few thousand of those workers.
