South Korea’s Yoon joins early voting ahead of parliamentary elections

    South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol cast his ballot as two days of early voting for next week's parliamentary elections kicked off on Friday, in which his ruling party seeks to retake a majority in the opposition-controlled assembly. More than 2.2 million people, or about 5.1% of eligible voters, had cast their ballots at some 3,500 polling stations nationwide as of 11 a.m., according to the National Election Commission. It marked the highest turnout for parliamentary elections at this point since the early voting system was adopted in 2013.
