Stock Futures Dip as S&P 500 Tests 5,000 Milestone

Stock futures were down slightly early Thursday as the S&P 500 stared down the 5,000 level—a milestone it has never passed. The index got within a hair’s breadth of the mark Wednesday, reaching 4999.89 in intraday trading and closing at a new record high of 4995.06. S&P 500 futures were down 0.1% early Thursday, Dow Jones Industrial Average futures dipped after the index also closed at record level, and futures on the Nasdaq Composite fell slightly.
