Suriname ex-president to be jailed after losing murder appeal

Suriname's ex-president Desi Bouterse will be jailed after losing his appeal against a 20-year prison sentence for the murder of political opponents over four decades ago, the prosecutor's office said Thursday.In a statement, the office said it would "now proceed with the execution of the sentence" and would consult with Bouterse and his lawyer to "determine the day and date of the execution of the sentence imposed."
