The mob cannot be allowed to subvert our democracy

As Britain faces months more of pre-election infighting, the growing number of threats against politicians on both sides of the political divide is becoming alarming. Our democratic system relies on open and robust debate. Extremists cannot be permitted to close down discussion or drive people out of public life with threats and intimidation.
