U.S. Military Moves to Show Support for Israel

The U.S. military is moving a carrier strike group closer to Israel’s shores and several Air Force jet fighter squadrons toward its skies in what it intended to be a show of support, a U.S. official said. The USS Gerald R. Ford and its accompanying ships had been operating in the Mediterranean Sea but have now begun to move toward Israel, the official said. Carrier strike groups include roughly 5,000 troops and an array of military capabilities, including jet fighters.
