U.S. Orders Grand Canyon University to Pay Record $37.7 Million Fine

    The Biden administration accused Grand Canyon University of misleading doctoral students about tuition costs, imposing its first significant punishment to a college on Tuesday. The Education Department ordered the Phoenix-based Christian school to pay a fine of $37.7 million, the largest ever of its kind. “We are holding GCU accountable for its actions, protecting students and taxpayers, and upholding the integrity of the federal student aid programs,” said the head of Federal Student Aid, Richard Cordray.
